Ok guys, this meal was one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted! No joke, I have dreams about this meal. If you’re unfamiliar with Sun Basket, it’s a meal delivery service similar to Blue Apron and Hello Fresh except everything is organic. The Ingredients: 1/2 pound broccolini, Fresh flat-leaf parsley, fresh cilantro, 1 lime, 1 cup cherry tomatoes, Chermoula spice blend (cumin-coriander), Two 6-ounce top sirloin steaks, Basil-walnut pesto (fresh basil-walnuts-baby arugula-fresh garlic-oil blend-kosher salt).
One of the best things about Sun Basket is the ingredients. I’ve found that their meats are particularly high quality. This steak came labeled as “Sirloin Steak, Antibiotic and hormone free, Humanely raised in NE”. Sun Basket is also known for having delicious pre-made sauces and seasonings. The Basil-Walnut Pesto included in this meal was a particular favorite. I could eat it with a spoon!
Prep Time: 5 minutes (on card), 18 minutes (actual)
Prep time with these meals basically comes down to the amount of chopping you have to do. I am definitely not an expert chopper and it always takes me longer than the listed time to wash, dry, and chop everything. This might have to do with a certain little girl who comes into the kitchen to visit me but really, I do try to stay on task.
Cook Time: 20 minutes (on card), 29 minutes (actual)
The disparity in the cook time comes from the steaks. With every meal delivery company, the cook time on the meats varies. With this meal, there were 2 pieces or steak. One was smaller and very thick while the other was longer and thinner. Both steaks looked to be thicker than the steak on the menu card and both took longer to cook than the 10 minutes suggested on the card, 6 minutes longer to be exact, for a cook time of 16 minutes for the steaks.

Like I said above, this dish was amazing. Easily my favorite of all the meals I’ve cooked over my 1.5 years using this type of service. The things that stood out to me were the quality of the steaks and the basil-walnut pesto. The steaks were so juicy and had a really great flavor on their own as well as with the chermoula and the pesto. I’ll definitely order this one again if it’s offered!
